What You Need to Know
It starts with the fruit: every garnish begins with hand-selected whole citrus at peak ripeness—anything with blemishes, soft spots, or inconsistent color is rejected before production starts.
Uniform slicing is non-negotiable: Each fruit is cut to a precise thickness — thick enough to hold structure, thin enough to dehydrate evenly and look right on a rim.
Low-temperature dehydration preserves everything that matters: extended low-heat drying removes moisture without destroying the essential oils, natural pigments, or aroma that high heat would cook out.
Color and aroma are the proof: Orange slices stay warm amber. Blood oranges keep their crimson marbling. Limes hold their sharp green. That's what slow dehydration produces — conventional drying doesn't get there.
Every batch is inspected before it ships: color, structure, and aroma are checked at the end of every production run. Each resealable pouch holds 20–25 slices with a 12+ month shelf life.
It Starts with the Fruit
Every Citrus House garnish begins with hand-selected whole citrus fruit. We source oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruits, and blood oranges from trusted growers, prioritizing fruit with vibrant color, firm skin, and peak ripeness. The quality of the raw fruit determines the quality of the finished garnish — there is no shortcut here.
Each piece of fruit is inspected before it enters our production line. We reject anything with blemishes, soft spots, or inconsistent color. When a bartender pulls a Citrus House wheel out of the pouch, we want every single slice to look like it belongs in a five-star cocktail bar.
Slicing for Consistency
After washing and inspection, each fruit is sliced to a uniform thickness. This is critical — too thick and the center stays moist; too thin and the slice becomes fragile and loses its visual impact. Our slicing process ensures every wheel has the ideal thickness for both dehydration and cocktail presentation.
Consistency matters because bartenders and home mixologists rely on predictable results. A Citrus House orange slice should look the same whether it comes from the first pouch you order or the fiftieth. That consistency starts with precise slicing.
Low and Slow: The Dehydration Process
This is where the magic happens. Our commercial dehydrators run at carefully controlled low temperatures for extended periods. High heat would cook the fruit, destroying the natural oils and turning vibrant colors into dull browns. Low-temperature dehydration removes moisture gradually while preserving the essential oils, natural pigments, and aromatic compounds that make each variety distinct.
The process takes significantly longer than conventional drying methods, but the results speak for themselves. Our dried orange slices retain their warm amber translucency. Our blood oranges keep their dramatic crimson marbling. Our limes maintain that sharp green brightness. This is not dried fruit from a bulk snack aisle — this is a precision product designed for the cocktail industry.
Quality Control and Packaging
Once dehydration is complete, every batch goes through a final quality check. We inspect for color consistency, structural integrity, and aroma. Slices that do not meet our standards are removed before packaging.
Our resealable pouches are designed to keep moisture out and freshness in. Each pouch contains 20–25 slices, packed carefully to minimize breakage during shipping. The result is a product with a 12+ month shelf life that arrives looking exactly as it should — ready to make every drink it touches look extraordinary.
